January is coming to an end.  It’s been a month since I started keeping track of the movies I’ve been watching as a sort-of online hobby.  Inspired by Scott Lucas doing the same last year on Twitter (link) he is continuing/starting over again for 2012.  With 2 new albums coming out very soon, his numbers might drag. I am surprised I am up to 29 flicks 30 days in.  I may not crack 31 in 31, time will tell. It’s probably a fluke, but I do watch more movies in winter, and before the Academy Awards.  I can’t imagine I would reach 366 movies.  (It is a leap year)…

So far, I’ve been setting basic, easy guidelines as I go along.

1) The movie must be viewed in full - however, catching a movie at a reasonable point in, is acceptable.  Like, a scene or two, and depending on if I have seen the movie factors in to that.

2) Repeat viewings of the same movie apply towards the count.  If I’m investing the time in a film, I’m gonna count it.  I watched The Artist twice already, I’m sure The Big Lebowski will make a few appearances.

3) Made for TV movies and mini-series count, as long as they are actually in movie format.

4) 30 minutes, or half of a movie won’t count. See rule #1.  I’ve watched about a half-hour of about 6 or more movies so far. All that time won’t apply.

Maybe I’ll add more rules later, but it seems pretty simple & clear-cut. Watch a movie.  That’s it. So keep following along.  As I was inspired by Scott Lucas, this idea has also inspired Tadd Good (link) to log his movies as well.  He is giving me ideas for movies to watch, especially Japanese horror movies.
